A Nation Divided

Every day we are bombarded with news broadcasts about the upcoming election. It seems like every station broadcasts nothing but the constant banter between candidates and who’s offending whom. Because of this, our nation has become divided. We have become critical of one another on the basis of our political and cultural standing and act out in anger towards those who disagree with us. As Christians, we are called to overlook our political opinions so we do not lose sight of the fact that we are all human beings, presidential candidates included. We all carry the same heartache, troubles, fears and frailties.

The church must always come down on the side of truth and not fall to one particular side or the other. Rather, we should be the voice of reason, compassion, and healing. In doing this, the Christian message of love and redemption will stand out above all the noise. No matter the politics involved, we should treat all sides with dignity and respect. If we cannot overlook the politics, then our message is and will remain lost.

Revival doesn’t divide people along political lines, but brings them together. This great country is deeply divided, and a nation divided against itself cannot stand. A voice of healing is deeply needed in this hour, and the church is called to answer regardless of the culture.

Very Truly Yours,

Rudolph F.X. Migliore
